The role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supervisor/Assistant Manager with public practice experience to join our dynamic and well-regarded firm. This is an important role within our practice, offering exposure to a wide variety of clients and complex scenarios. If you thrive on variety and challenge, this is the opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Supervise, train and mentor senior accountant assisting with queries and reviewing work
  • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals, and SMSFs.
  • Identify and resolve complex taxation issues, particularly those arising through estate administration processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for not-for-profit entities, testamentary trusts, and special disability trusts.
  • Prepare interim accounts for tax planning purposes and year end distribution minutes
  • Handle day-to-day client queries with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Training & Development

While training will be provided, previous experience in public practice is essential.
You will be supported in expanding your skill set and encouraged to take ownership of processes and client relationships.

Keys to success – Required Attributes

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Australian public practice including previous reviewing experience
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently

The role

We are seeking a full-time Senior Tax Accountant to support all aspects of servicing our growing specialist practice. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced tax professional to broaden their skill base and work on complex taxation matters, particularly in the administration of deceased estates. The role involves close collaboration with legal practitioners and other professional advisors, requiring both technical expertise and sensitivity.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, deceased estates, and testamentary trusts, primarily referred by specialist legal practitioners.
  • Conduct CGT cost base reconstructions.
  • Collaborate with our technical advisory team on complex matters.
  • Understand and apply tax concepts to estate administration, including relevant legal terms and principles.
  • Prepare instalment and business activity statements (IAS/BAS).
  • Liaise with executors, legal professionals, and external accountants.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Training & Development

Training will be provided to support your transition into this specialist area. However, prior experience in public practice is essential. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of processes and develop expertise in a niche and rewarding field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ Australian experience in tax return preparation.
  • CA or CPA qualified (or near completion).
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills and take initiative.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.

The role

We are seeking a part time administration assistant to support all aspects of servicing our growing portfolio of clients. Candidates must have previous public practice experience from which, this role will allow you to develop a broader skill set liaising with legal practitioners and handling the sensitivities of administering estate taxation matters. We are open to 22-25 hours per week.

The right person will have ample opportunity to grow within our business so someone with a hunger and a strong attention to detail will thrive in this position.

Predominately, this role is to work collaboratively with the administration team which will include but not be limited to the following tasks:

Key responsibilities will include

  • Work with the team in a shared mailbox to complete tasks such as setting up new clients, dispatching new enquiries, sending returns for signature and subsequently lodgement
  • Database management including setting up new clients, conducting proof of identity checks and maintaining records
  • Assisting with invoicing and debtors’ management as required
  • Provide backup support to reception duties in greeting and welcome clients and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner and taking incoming calls.
  • Following up ATO matters and assistance with ATO correspondence
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required

The successful applicant will require the following attributes:

  • Minimum of 4 years in a previous public practice role
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft suite skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills, be self-motivated and take ownership of processes
  • Be a team player who can work well under pressure, but also able to work autonomously as required
  • Demonstrates trustworthiness, integrity and discretion with highly sensitive information
  • MYOB AE experience considered favourably
